Membership organizations often use secure online member portals to share information with members, centralize event calendars and online registration, allow members to self-manage their involvement and interests, and permit members to share resources and collaborate with each other. We designed and built a Member Portal for an association to manage their membership and content.

The portal was powered by a custom built CRM integration so the content and user management was seamlessly handled by organizational staff, keeping security and access control at the top of the design.
Inkling led the stakeholder research, ux strategy and design, graphic design and full-stack development of the custom Member Portal. The Portal features five main navigational components where information could be securely shared with membership, offer self-management of member company information and encourage involvement across initiatives and topic areas.

Onboarding
The Member Portal access was strictly controlled by the organization’s CRM, which sent each user an invite and activation email. Through the onboarding process users could confirm their contact information, set their passwords and get a preview of the Portal’s primary offerings.
Home
The Portal’s home page centralized key content, events and updates from across the organization. With announcements and featured content front and center, members are able to clearly see the most important content from the organization.
Initiatives
The Initiatives page highlights topics and working groups a user is subscribed to, but also features the full set of initiatives from the organization to encourage active participation and content channels. The side bar showcases significant upcoming events from across the organization.
Events
The Events page consolidates recurring meetings and events across all Initiatives, organizing a singular view for members to see all activity at the organization. This view increases visibility to encourage participation both in initiatives they are already subscribed to, but also raise awareness for collaboration.
Member Company Profile
The Member Center page allows administrative users from each Member Company to manage their information, staff and key contact information. The page highlights key statistical data as it relates to their membership with the organization.
Stakeholder Interviews & UX Design
To ensure the Member Portal equally served the organization and membership, we led extensive stakeholder interviews with both parties to ensure the Portal solved the needs for everyone. With a focus on improving current communications, centralizing content and connecting back to the organization’s CRM, our UX design engineered solutions to define the design and development process.
